Sewing machine, TV and car from the past and present
Sewing Machine from the Past and Present
Sewing Machines from the past did not use electricity. They used a peddle called a treadle instead of electricity. Now we just use electricity.
Sewing Machines were made out of wood and metal. Now they’re not. Now there made out of plastic and metal.
Sewing Machines in the olden days only did one stitch. They only did a straight stitch. Now they can do zigzags, three step zigzag and lots more.
To control the speed it would depend on how fast you stepped on the treadle. Now you would switch a switch to make it faster or slower. You would just easily slide the switch.
Car from past and present
Cars from the past did not have air conditioning. Now we have air conditioning. So if it was hot and you did not have air conditioning you would be quite hot.
Cars back then did not have airbags. Cars now have air bags. Air bags are like a big balloon that keeps you still when accidents happen.
Cars back then did not have any gadgets. They did not have CD players, Music players and USB players. But they did have radios.

T.V. FROM PAST AND PRESENT
With T.V.s from the past to turn them on you would have to press a button on the T.V. Now you just need to get the remote and press a button. You would not need to get up and walk to the T.V. and then press a button and then walk back.
T.V.s from the past had only four or five channels on them. T.V.s now have about 50-100 channels. To change them you would have to turn a knob and then it would go through the channels. Now you just press the number of the channel you want and it goes to that channel.
T.V.s from past did not have colour T.V.s. They had black and white T.V.s. Also the screen was not as sharp. It was very blurry. Now it is not blurry and it is in colour.
The screens on a T.V. from the past would not have a flat screen. It would have a round screen. Now T.V.s has flat screens.
Richmond VS Carlton
I went to the footy yesterday. At first when dad and I were deciding to go I was like I don't want to go and see Richmond VS Carlton because we will just lose. But what do you know! We won! Yippppppeeeeeeee! Even some Richmond supporters went home early. Plus it was a good birthday for Micky Malthouse. Beating Richmond. What a win!
The SEDA Clinic
On Tuesday the 13th of August the SEDA (Sports Education Development Australia) clinic came to Newlands Primary school. The senior school did it at a different time to the junior school. We were split into 6 groups. I was with Ornette, Erin, Mohammed, Pascal, Tom and Rohan.
The first activity my group did was where you got a partner (mine was Erin) and you had to go to one of the cones and you had to kick a ball in. Erin got most of the goals but I got a few in. The hardest cone was the one where you had to kick the ball in but the cone was right at the side.
The second activity was where you got a partner and you had to kick a football to your partner. My partner was Erin again. Sometimes Erin kicked the ball a bit too far. But I never kicked it too far.
For the third activity we had a race. You would run to the end of the cone but on the way you would bounce the ball once. Then you would do the same back but then you would handball the ball to the next person. Then one of the instructors asked if anyone wanted to race him. Tom said yes and Tom won.
Next we did tackling. We had to run up to a bag and then the person holding the bag would let go. It was so fun. Then we did specky’s. Specky’s are when you run up to the bag and hug on to it but you don’t fall down.
After that we played a football game. Tackling was allowed. I got one goal. One of the instructors passed the ball to me and then I kicked the ball in. I was really close to the goal.
Lastly we did handballing. You had to handball a football into this score thing with points on it. Then we counted up our score. I didn’t count all my points but with what I counted I got 50.
I had a wonderful afternoon. My favourite activity was the first one. I can’t wait for them to come back next year.
